For temporary fix u can go into geforce experience and set the programs u want ur graphics card to use but that is a pain every time u install a new game etc Instead go to the drivers and support page of your laptop manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers with the proper Optimus settings and if they don't wish to provide one, just demand them to do it by e-mailing them and you would get a response.
Another problem is that when I whatch 4K videos on youtube at full-screen size they are not fluid. Can it be the problem? This is all for crap. Not sure why it's so hard to get a clear answer on this. People just want to use their m for video stuff.. WTF doesn't it work!?!? Mine works fine without any issues and auto flips between the intel and nvidia gpu.
While that was in the past, does it hold true even today as technology has evolved? Sadly, yes, laptops even up to this day are more or less stagnant computers. That means that if you have a laptop with a graphics card that is on the lower end, it might be impossible for you to change or upgrade its graphics card to a more powerful version. In other words, your most likely alternative if you want to play high-end games is to purchase a newer and more powerful laptop or to actually build a desktop with amazing gaming capabilities.
Now that we have mentioned that you cannot upgrade or change the graphics card on a laptop, you might be wondering why that is so. In answering that question, we shall go back to the very same factor that has made the laptop so popular—its portability.
If you look at a laptop, it was made to be portable and convenient to carry around. So, because of that, most of the laptops that are on the affordable side of the price spectrum tend to have integrated graphics cards. This makes it impossible for you to remove the integrated graphics card as it requires you to also remove the CPU or even the entire motherboard itself. You would most likely find more success in saving money by buying a more powerful laptop instead.
It might not even be compatible with the motherboard. Also, you need to consider that powerful graphics cards tend to have higher power requirements that some laptops might not be able to handle. One thing that i'm not sure is what kind of graphic cards are compatible with integrated motherboards. I heard that PCI are the ones but i hope someone can verify that for me. Sorry, I know I'm asking for a lot and I thank those who would take their time to respond to this.
Motopsychojdn Illustrious. Jan 26, 11, 2 41, Nope, when you install a pcie or agp graphics card, the mobo uses that over the integrated chip, some systems have a hybrid system where you can set it up to use both but thats by and large irrelevant you want to identify your motherboards available sockets, most likely they are pcie what is your motherboard?
Oct 9, 48, 2, , 10, Integrated graphics are either chips soldered onto the motherboard, or are part of the cpu chip. You can't replace them. If your motherboard has a pci or pci-s expansion slot, you can get a discrete graphics card and abandon use of the integrated graphics. But get a good enough discrete card or you may be disappointed.
