What is tempered glass? Does tempered glass break? Can tempered glass be repaired? What glass should be tempered in your home? Example of broken glass types. Image from Pioneer Glass. Safety Glass, why do you need it? According to the National Glass Association , there are now 4 criteria that require safety glass: The glazing glass is less than 18 inches above the floor The top of the glass is less than 36 inches above the floor The size of the glass exceeds 9 square feet The glass is within 36 inches of where people walk Any doors made of glass — sliding, French, or shower doors — are all always made of tempered glass.

Laminated Glass What is laminated glass? What does laminated glass do? Where is laminated glass used? Tempered Glass What is tempered glass?

What does tempered glass do? Where is tempered glass used? These types were invented in order to […]. Both tempered and laminated glass are so-called safety glass. These types were invented in order to prevent injuries caused by broken glass.

Various building codes prescribe the use of safety glass when glazing is large and when it is close to walking routes or floor level. In all these situations, there is a higher probability that the glass will be impacted and shatter. And when annealed ordinary glass breaks, it produces long sharp shards that may injure people in close proximity.

When any type of safety glazing breaks, it remains relatively harmless. The core difference between tempered and laminated glass lies in how they are produced. The technology determines their costs and main features. Tempered glazing is a single piece of annealed glass. It turns into safety glass after tempering thermal processing. During processing, the inside layer is subjected to tension, and the outer layer to compression, which results in more durability.

Laminated glazing consists of two glass layers joined together with a plastic layer. Glass layers can be both regular glass and tempered glass. The plastic layer is PVB or polyvinyl butyral. It is clear, flexible, tough, and adhesive to many materials. When all three layers are heated under pressure, the lamination takes place.

Tempered glazing is several times stronger and less likely to break than laminated glass and about times stronger than regular glass. However, laminated glazing can have a layer of tempered glass, which would make it stronger. Laminated glass can be times more expensive than tempered glass. When safety is a primary concern, tempered glass is typically used.

This type of glass is commonly used in doors and windows, but does have other applications. If it is broken, it shatters into smaller, less harmful fragments.

This hardened exterior makes it seven times stronger than regularly manufactured glass. Laminated glass is used when both safety and security are in mind. It is made by bonding two pieces of glass together with a middle core of plastic called polyvinyl butyral. This middle layer prevents the glass from separating when shattered, reducing serious harm and lacerations. This type of glass is perhaps best known for its application in windshields in all modern automobiles.

Laminated glass lacks the strong outer skin that tempered glass has, and as such is more prone to cracking when impacted.

Free safety the player normally needs to be great at coverage and understanding the angles to get to the ball. It helps if he's taller and leaner and is a great jumper as well. He can't be afraid to make a big hit, but also must time his hit the right way to jar the ball loose and not get a penalty. He is the guy that makes the wide receivers scared to go over the middle.

He's also the guy tasked with locating the ball and meeting it at the point of attack, whether that point is an interception, deflection, or that big hit. He's tasked with "playing the field" and assisting the cornerbacks and he often plays zone when others around him are playing man.

When he does play man defense, it's often because there may be a blitz package or a run style defense like a they are in. At that point, he has the duties of a corner in coming up more to pick up a wideout.

The weakside linebacker will normally act as the strongside linebacker does with the tight end and drop with the WR for a few yards until the free safety picks him up. Generally, your right but it really depends on how the Defense was constructed. As the FS, they must have ball skills and coverage skills while having the ability to disguise their coverage. While both must be adequate against the run, SS are also called upon to cover the TE which means physicality is a must while FS will be covering mainly WRs or slot receivers.

FS also must have the abilith to cover ALOT of ground especially in cover 2 shell and provide help so the corners can play to their strengths i. Sign up to join this community.

Fortunately, I decided to go with anti-pyretics first before jumping to the treatment for SVT. Infact, sinus tachycardia is the commonest type of SVT. Following this event, I sat down and began to search the fact. I have only one thing to say —. The approach to use cut-off value for heart rate to distinguish between Sinus tachycardia and SVT is an act of oversimplification which may lead to unnecessary ineffective treatment depriving patient from the necessary ones.

These numbers just show that when the heart rate is more than the calculated, sinus tachycardia is less likely but still possible. SVT, on the other hand, tends to "break" suddenly. These are referred to as retrograde Ps. History, history, history.

Is there a reason for tachycardia, for example a history consistent with dehydration or anxiety? But it is a distinct condition. The problem with this rhythm is that it causes a persistently fast heart rate that may be difficult to control. If a lung disease is causing this rhythm problem, treating the lung disease might also control the rhythm problem. Junctional tachycardia is a rare fast heart rate that starts in the area between the upper and lower chambers of the heart.

This rhythm may happen in children who have had heart surgery. Normal sinus tachycardia. Sinus tachycardia is present when a person's heart rate is over beats per minute. This is normal if there is a clear reason for the fast heart rate, such as exercise, pain, or fever. With sinus tachycardia, the electrical system of the heart is working normally.

Abnormal inappropriate sinus tachycardia. Sinus tachycardia heart rate over beats per minute is not normal if there is no apparent cause. In this rare condition, the electrical system of the heart is working normally. People with inappropriate sinus tachycardia typically don't have any heart disease. Inappropriate sinus tachycardia with no diagnosed heart problem may mean your autonomic nervous system isn't working right.

Sinus node reentrant tachycardia is a rare type of fast heart rate. This type is caused by abnormal conduction of electrical impulses within the sinus node. Author: Healthwise Staff. The distinction may have to be made clinically and confirmed by Holter or another method. If the rhythm is fast enough that P-waves would not be distinguishable, but slower than the speed limit of age, then we might have to consider sinus tachycardia also.

We will not discuss all possible SVTs here, but only a few representative ones. An upper limit on the rate of a sinus tachycardia can be given in terms of the patient's age: A sinus tachycardia should not be faster than age. Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia PSVT PSVTs are tachycardias that arise instantly, the patient may feel their heart rate jump suddenly from 60 to Now analyse the rate and rhythm of the following EKG obtained from a 48 year old woman:.

Normally Implicit connections are also on a different port such as port However, after connecting, the client will send a command to switch to SSL mode. When this command is sent the server will respond normally, then establish an SSL connection. The command channel has the role of managing simple command exchanges between server and FTP client by usually running on server 21 port.

Accordingly, the data channel works by employing on-demand temporary ports that are listening on the client active mode or the server passive mode. While the communications can be easily read, encryption happens on both command and data channels. FTPS also requires your connection to be authenticated with a certificate. When these certificates are signed by a trusted certificate authority, this provides assurance that the client is connected to the requested server.

Unlike FTPS, this protocol encrypts the credentials and files that are being transferred in binary so that they are unreadable. On the other hand, SFTP uses a single connection between the client and the server and so it is more firewall-friendly.

In other words, the transport mechanism is really what differentiates the two. With it, comes security concerns. Do I need one? The abdomen has segments specialized for reproduction. Thus segmentation allows for specialization of the different parts of the organism. You can contrast this to a pill bug or roly poly —the small, gray bugs, another type of arthropod, that hide under logs and in other damp places.

They are called isopods because all their legs do the same thing "iso" means "same". They do have antennae, but most of their body segments have legs. So although segmented, they don't have the specialization of different appendages on segments that the lobster does.

Figure Interestingly, a group of invertebrates closely related to chordates echinoderms, such as sea stars and sea urchins , shows radial symmetry. However, these organisms are bilaterally symmetrical as larvae.

As adults they live in marine environments and are secondarily radially symmetrical. All rights reserved. Classscience » Biology. Animal Kingdom. Share with your friends. Reha Hansraj answered this. Symmetry is when a body is divided into two equal parts when passed through a given plane.

Segmentation is when the body itself is divided into different parts which need not be equal. View Full Answer. Avneet Kaur answered this. Symmetry means when a body is divided in two halves which is passing through a plane and the body can be Asymmetrical,Radially symmetrical and Bilaterally symmetrical. Segmentation means when body is externally and internally divided into segments with certain organs repeated serially as we can take the example of earthworm.

The phylum Nematoda roundworms is an example of a pseudocoelomate. Bilaterally symmetrical, tribloblastic eucoelomates can be further divided into two groups based on differences in their early embryonic development.

These two groups are separated based on which opening of the digestive cavity develops first: mouth protostomes or anus deuterostomes. Early embryonic development in eucoelomates : Eucoelomates can be divided into two groups based on their early embryonic development. In protostomes, part of the mesoderm separates to form the coelom in a process called schizocoely. In deuterostomes, the mesoderm pinches off to form the coelom in a process called enterocoely. The coelom of most protostomes is formed through a process called schizocoely, when a solid mass of the mesoderm splits apart and forms the hollow opening of the coelom.

Deuterostomes differ in that their coelom forms through a process called enterocoely, when the mesoderm develops as pouches that are pinched off from the endoderm tissue. These pouches eventually fuse to form the mesoderm, which then gives rise to the coelom. Protostomes undergo spiral cleavage: the cells of one pole of the embryo are rotated and, thus, misaligned with respect to the cells of the opposite pole. This spiral cleavage is due to the oblique angle of the cleavage.

Protostomes also undergo determinate cleavage: the developmental fate of each embryonic cell is pre-determined. Deuterostomes undergo radial cleavage where the cleavage axes are either parallel or perpendicular to the polar axis, resulting in the alignment of the cells between the two poles.

Unlike protostomes, deuterostomes undergo indeterminate cleavage: cells remain undifferentiated until a later developmental stage. This characteristic of deuterostomes is reflected in the existence of familiar embryonic stem cells, which have the ability to develop into any cell type. Privacy Policy. Skip to main content. Animal Characterization Based on Body Symmetry Animals can be classified by three types of body plan symmetry: radial symmetry, bilateral symmetry, and asymmetry. Learning Objectives Differentiate among the ways in which animals can be characterized by body symmetry. Key Takeaways Key Points Animals with radial symmetry have no right or left sides, only a top or bottom; these species are usually marine organisms like jellyfish and corals.

Only sponges phylum Porifera have asymmetrical body plans. Some animals start life with one type of body symmetry, but develop a different type as adults; for example, sea stars are classified as bilaterally symmetrical even though their adult forms are radially symmetrical. Key Terms sagittal plane : divides the body into right and left halves radial symmetry : a form of symmetry wherein identical parts are arranged in a circular fashion around a central axis bilateral symmetry : having equal arrangement of parts symmetry about a vertical plane running from head to tail.

Animal Characterization Based on Features of Embryological Development Animals may be characterized by the presence of a coelom, formation of the mouth, and type of cell cleavage during embryonic development.

Like parmesan, Romano comes in both fresh and dehydrated form. Fresh Romano has a higher moisture and fat content than parmesan and is aged for five months longer. Operators looking to diversify flavor profiles in their pizzas and pasta dishes need look no farther than parmesan or Romano cheese.

The question remains…parmesan or Romano? Which one is tastier and which one is best used on your pizza or pasta? Commonly paired with mozzarella, Romano gives pizza an extra punch. Not everyone enjoys the sharp, salty taste of Romano and may prefer a slightly milder parmesan.

Pecorino will be brighter, with more grassy flavor and sharp saltiness. These differences are a result of different production methods. It must be aged for at least 12 months. The aging process helps create the nutty, complex flavor that Parmesan is known for. True Parmigiano-Reggiano must be made in one of five provinces within Emilia-Romagna.

Parmesan cheese can be thinly sliced and served as an appetizer, or grated over salads or pastas. Grated Parmesan can also be mixed into meatballs. Basically, no matter what you sprinkle it on, it will add a pop of savory saltiness. Pro tip: Buy a wedge of Parmesan to use at home. You can drop the rinds into beans, soups, or stews as they simmer to add a cheesy flavor to the dish.

Pecorino is also typically younger than Parmesan. Romano made in this country does indeed have a sharp flavor, albeit not nearly as sharp as a true pecorino Romano. Price notwithstanding pecorino Romano carries a much higher price tag , many people find the sharp and aggressive flavor of a pecorino Romano too much to deal with. The usage involved in either cheese is quite varied. I find that sprinkling grated Romano over the tomatoes on a pizza before it goes into the oven adds immensely to the overall flavor.

I find that a mixture of grated Parmesan and grated Romano three parts Parmesan to one part Romano gives a pesto sauce the depth and character that it needs. I find that the sharp flavor of grated Romano is just the ticket for enhancing the flavor of homemade meatballs. Here is an excellent recipe for a potato tart that uses Romano or Pecorino Romano cheese.

This tart is perfect to serve as part of a lunch menu or lunch buffet when combined with a green salad a slice and a salad. It should be served at room temperature or slightly warm. Blue Cheese. Blue cheese is made from cow, goat, or sheep's milk that has been cured with cultures from the mold Penicillium Share on Pinterest. Cottage Cheese. Which cheese tastes like Romano and contains peppercorns?

Stella Black Pepper Romano is regular Romano cloaked in a veil of cracked black peppercorns. The cheese is aged for five months, letting the sharper, saltier bite of Romano blend with pleasantly piquant, slightly spicy coating of pepper.

Is Pecorino stronger than parmesan? Cheese lovers, take note But what's the difference between these hard Italian cheeses? Parmesan is made from cow's milk. Pecorino is made from sheep's milk pecora means "ewe" in Italian. It's younger than Parmesan, aging only five to eight months, and the shorter process yields a strong, tangy flavor. Is Pecorino saltier than parmesan?

Since sheep's milk possesses a more bitter taste than cow's milk, Pecorino Romano is much saltier and stronger tasting than your classic Parm. Also, the aging window for Pecorino Romano, months, is slightly shorter than that of Parmigiano-Reggiano. Is Kraft Parmesan real?

To get a sense of longer-term job approval trends for the president, Rasmussen Reports compiles our tracking data on a full month-by-month basis. Rasmussen Reports has been a pioneer in the use of automated telephone polling techniques, but many other firms still utilize their own operator-assisted technology see methodology. Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis.

To reach those who have abandoned traditional landline telephones, Rasmussen Reports uses an online survey tool to interview randomly selected participants from a demographically diverse panel. Results are also compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for full-week results are available for Platinum Members. Rasmussen Reports is a media company specializing in the collection, publication and distribution of public opinion information.

Determining who is going to vote this November and later in is the most difficult question pollsters face, Newall said. While adjusting results by party identification is becoming increasingly common, it is still contentious in the polling business since partisan identity is not a fixed characteristic like race or sex. A research paper released in January by the Pew Research Center found that Democrats were more likely to respond to online polls than telephone-based ones but declined to endorse or condemn partisan weighting in general.

On Thursday, Rasmussen posted an essay on its site which denounced public opinion surveys in its Political Commentary section which frequently features right-leaning voices. Joondeph was headlined. Take it all with a big grain of salt.

The Skeletool is available in just one color configuration: standard black. However, people who prefer to avoid neutral tones might find the design boring. The Skeletool is engineered specifically to be used with one hand. Some multi-tools require you to dig the tools out or use two hands for opening and closing. A replaceable pocket clip gives you the option to carry your multi-tool clipped to different places as you roam around. Each of the tools built into the Skeletool is accessible from the outside.

Some multi-tools have to be fully unfolded before you can use any of the tools inside. The entire device also weighs around five ounces.

What the carabiner adds in length it makes up for in usefulness. You can attach other EDC tools or increase the portability of the design. This gives the Skeletool a distinct advantage over the shorter and less versatile multi-tools competing with it. The Skeletool includes regular pliers, needle nose pliers, regular wire cutters, a bottle opener, the carabiner, hard wire cutters, and a large bit screwdriver.

The pliers are more of an accessory. Although it's classified as a multi-tool, it handles more like a premium knife. All the ergonomics seem to be built around the dedicated usage of the knife. In spite of the pliers, it doesn't weigh any more than a typical premium knife of a comparable size. Generally, Okazaki fragments are short segments of DNA, about nucleotides long. Figure 2: Continuity of the Leading and Lagging Strand. Also, at the beginning of each Okazaki fragment, an RNA primer has to be synthesized on the lagging strand. Thus, this is the main difference between leading and lagging strand.

Importantly, the leading strand grows continuously while the lagging strand grows discontinuously by forming Okazaki fragments. Leading strand requires a single primer for the synthesis while the lagging strand requires a new primer to start each Okazaki fragment. Hence, this is another difference between leading and lagging strand. Moreover, the starting point too contributes to the difference between leading and lagging strand.

With all of that bacteria around, how is anyone ever healthy? While you would think that ever-present bacteria would mean ever-present illness, most types of bacteria are harmless to a person in good health. However there are bacteria that can cause infections like strep throat and tuberculosis. While bacterial infections can typically be cured with antibiotics, there are some strains that have grown to resist antibiotic drugs. Viruses are much smaller than bacteria.

In fact, viruses are basically just capsules that contain genetic material. To reproduce, viruses invade cells in your body, hijacking the machinery that makes cells work. Host cells are often eventually destroyed during this process. There are many varieties of fungi, and we eat several of them.

Mushrooms are fungi, as are the molds that form the blue or green veins in some types of cheese. And yeast, another type of fungus, is a necessary ingredient in most types of bread.

Other fungi can cause illness. One example is candida — a yeast that can cause infection. Candida can cause thrush — an infection of the mouth and throat — in infants and in people taking antibiotics or who have an impaired immune system. Fungi are also responsible for skin conditions such as athlete's foot and ringworm. Protozoans are single-celled organisms that behave like tiny animals — hunting and gathering other microbes for food.

Many protozoans call your intestinal tract home and are harmless. Others cause diseases, such as:. Protozoans often spend part of their life cycles outside of humans or other hosts, living in food, soil, water or insects. Some protozoans invade your body through the food you eat or the water you drink.

Others, such as malaria, are spread by mosquitoes. Helminths are among the larger parasites. The word "helminth" comes from the Greek word for worm.

If these parasites — or their eggs — enter your body, they take up residence in your intestinal tract, lungs, liver, skin or brain, where they live off your body's nutrients. Helminths include tapeworms and roundworms. There's a difference between infection and disease.

Infection, often the first step, occurs when bacteria, viruses or other microbes that cause disease enter your body and begin to multiply.

Disease occurs when the cells in your body are damaged — as a result of the infection — and signs and symptoms of an illness appear. In response to infection, your immune system springs into action. An army of white blood cells, antibodies and other mechanisms goes to work to rid your body of whatever is causing the infection.

For instance, in fighting off the common cold, your body might react with fever, coughing and sneezing. What's the best way to stay disease-free? Prevent infections.

You can prevent infections through simple tactics, such as washing your hands regularly, avoiding close contact with people who are sick, cleaning surfaces that are touched often, avoiding contaminated food and water, getting vaccinations, and taking appropriate medications.

Your doctor can perform diagnostic tests to find out if you're infected, the seriousness of the infection and how best to treat that infection. There is a problem with information submitted for this request.

Southern whites appreciated his efforts, because they perceived them as a complete surrender to segregation and self-uplift. DuBois grew up both free and in the North. Ergo, he did not experience the harsh conditions of slavery or of southern prejudice. He grew up in a predominately white environment, attended Fisk University as an undergraduate and later became the first African American to receive a doctorate from Harvard University.

DuBois believe in what he called the "the talented tenth" of the black population who, through there intellectual accomplishments, would rise up to lead the black masses. Unlike Washington, DuBois felt that equality with whites was of the utmost importance.

More politically militant than Washington, DuBois demonstrated his political beliefs through his involvement in the Niagara Movement, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and served as editor of The Crisis, a black political magazine. He felt that blacks should educate themselves in the liberal tradition, just as whites. DuBois' more radical approach was received well by other northern freemen.

One of the biggest disagreements in philosophies between the two was over the issue of black suffrage. In terms of voting, DuBois believed that agitating for the ballot was necessary, but opposed giving the vote to the uneducated blacks. He believed that economic gains were not secure unless there was political power to safeguard them. This is shown in this comment from DuBois regarding Booker T.

Although both Washington and DuBois had the same dreams of equality for African Americans, they had very different ideas on how best to achieve this equality.
